What Makes a Good eCommerce Website? (Hint: It’s Not Just About Looking Pretty)

Let’s be real. A good eCommerce site needs to look amazing, but it also needs to function like a dream. It should guide your customer from curiosity to checkout faster than you can say “add to basket.”

Start with a homepage that instantly tells people who you are and what you sell. Use clean, uncluttered design and punchy headlines. Add in some gorgeous product photos and a call to action that actually makes people click.

Your navigation should be crystal clear. If your customers need a map to find the “Shop Now” button, something’s gone very wrong. A tidy menu, logical layout, and a search bar that works are absolute must-haves.

Product pages need more than a couple of blurry photos and “Nice candle. Smells good.” Give details. Use clear, benefit-driven descriptions, and make it easy for shoppers to imagine the product in their lives.

And then there’s the checkout. It should be smooth, secure, and fuss-free. The second things get complicated, your customer vanishes faster than you can refresh your stats. Make the process seamless, and don’t make them create an account just to buy.

If your site feels more confusing than convincing, it might be time for a revamp. I build websites that not only look beautiful but actually help your business grow.
